The Cherub

The black sky tickles the blue stars

And the moon smiles below to keep watch

Swift goes the wind round and round the kraals

Hark, hark, hark…the incarnate of Anwu!

All with the shrubs and palms hail and sway

Over the herald’s tale by the moonlight

Heard in silence by the ears of shadows

And mute kennel, stable, roost and shades

As steaming herbs upon live embers jib

With sheeny stars upon shimmering stream!

O happy morn, welcome the sun king

With thousand fairy bluebirds of muse

Play Mozart in his full cribbed charmed garden

With rosa damascena et ipomoea purpurea

Happy, happy, o happy sunshine faces

Watch him sweetly coos, softly pulse

Happier still the breasts, the muscles, hearts

Tear and sweat drops that sow the seed

In seminal rivers of pothos and himeros

That at last yields with the sun over equator!

How balmy the ambiance, how peaceful he lays

Rushes and pines observe the hour

O rest, rest, rest for future life from fetus

Ahead of this misty and mazy terra firma

Though this earth groans, roar and quake

Vent, thunder, storm, earth and sea quakes

Prince Michael’s sword always beside you

Gabriel forth with crown of andromeda

Ah, heavenly Beings behind clouds spy

Their Maker’s cub and chorus la, la, la…!
